Caring for your rock maple utensils is easy!
  • Wash with soap and water
  • Do not use your dishwasher, it will dry out the utensils.
  • Avoid soaking for long periods of time
  • We recommend using a non-scratch sponge, it helps clean utensils and leaves them wit ha beautiful finish.

Seasoning Your Wooden Kitchen Utensils

Seasoning your utensils before using them, and throughout their use will help keep them beautiful.

As you use your new tools they will tend to become a little dry and rough. This is normal, due to the hot water and detergents you use to wash them. The most common mistakes are over-soaking them in the sink, or placing them in the dishwasher. This can most often be rectified by using this oilng procedure - using the things from your kitchen, nothing special to buy!

With this technique, you will render your tools water resistant, the colours will become more vivid and they will last forever!

What you will need:

  • Small bowl
  • Olive oil
  • Basting brush
  • Cookie sheet



Here's what to do:

  1. Put olive oil in a bowl and place it in the microwave. Heat until oil is very hot, but not smoking.
  2. Place tools on the cookie sheet. Using the basting brush, put hot oil on tools, coating both sides as quickly as possible. Continue to bush oil on tools until and oil residue remains on tools.
  3. Let them sit covered by the oil residue for 4-5 hours, or even over night.
  4. Remove tools and whipe them. YOu can also give hem a light soap and water wash.
  5. Your tools are now perfectly seasoned and ready to use!

We realize that this may seem like a lot of work for kitchen utensils, but we feel that the benefits far outweigh the inconvenience. Adding the oil in this manner helps ensure that the natural oil in the wood helps fight food born bacteria. It is also holding the fibre of your tool together, keeping the colour beautiful.

Should roughness appear after prolonged use and washings, their fine beauty and color can be restored. Simply sand with 240 grit sandpaper and re-oil them ......new again !
